  Polish soprano Marcelina Román comes from a musical family. She began her singing and music education as a cellist, played piano and bassoon, then obtained her PhD in music from the Karol Lipiński Academy of Music in Wrocław.

  She made her professional opera debut as Violetta in “La Traviata” by G. Verdi and was a winner of the Jan Kiepura Award for “Debut of the year”.

  Marcelina is a laureate and winner of more than 20 prizes at international competitions such as:  I International Eva Marton Singing Competition, Hungary (2014), The International Vocal Competition IVC ‘s-Hertogenbosch (2014), The Jāzeps Vītols International Vocal Competition in Latvia (2015).  

  After her spectacular success as «Armide» J.B.Lully she was named «Operatic Revelation of Year» and won International Giuseppe di Stefano Award.

  Marcelina has performed in Opera Houses and music halls all over the world including Poland, Italy, France, Germany, The Netherlands, Argentina, Japan, Romania, Ukraine, Lithuania, Latvia and Indonesia.

  She has collaborated with several directors, conductors and coaches throughout her career which include Matthew Epstein, Ricardo Estrada, Anthony Manoli, Eugene Kohn, Andriy Yurkevych, Michał Znaniecki, Teresa Żylis-Gara.

  In 2021, in collaboration with pianist Gilbert den Broeder, Marcelina released her solo album “Polish Soul”, which included songs and opera arias by Polish composers.
